When British Nigerian Artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA was looking to realise his idea for the 2024 Venice Biennale he naturally turned to his collaborator of 26 years, Anthony Bennett, based at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield, UK.

In March 2023 Sheffield Culture Collective held its first public event of the year bringing the city’s private, voluntary, public and arts sectors together for an evening.

A much-loved children’s book being brought to the stage by a South Yorkshire-based African theatre company is set to tour community venues across the region to break down barriers to the arts.

Site Gallery is Sheffield’s international contemporary art space, specialising in moving image, new media and performance. Pioneering emerging art practices and ideas, Site works in partnership with local, regional and international collaborators to nurture artistic talent and supports the development of contemporary art.

It has been announced that a Sheffield classical music group, Ensemble 360, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national music award. 

When the Culture Collective was founded, it was with a clear view to level up funding for culture in the city and to make the case to national government that investing in Sheffield would deliver results.
