Arts Catalyst has moved to Sheffield

Arts Catalyst was founded in 1994. Based in London for 26 years, in 2020 the organisation moved to Sheffield. Over the last three decades Arts Catalyst commissioned over 170 creative projects that have at their heart a desire to connect people with ideas about the world around them.

Arts Catalyst’s programme includes in-person workshops, exhibitions, artist commissions, podcasts, online events and more. During 2021-22 we reached 19,000 live audiences in the UK, and 7,000 digital audiences in the UK and internationally. Between 2022-23, we reached over 3,000 live audiences in South Yorkshire, through Kitchen Club events, the launch of new commission Mind Garden by artist Harun Morrison at Sheffield Mind, Emergent Ecologies workshops, and artist Rachel Pimm’s Mixed Metaphors exhibition, as well 1,000 audiences internationally through touring performances and exhibitions. We have reached over 10,000 digital audiences through Radio Arts Catalyst and our international Soil Futures programme.

During 2022-23, Arts Catalyst programmed: 5 community workshops; 10 public workshops; 2 performances; 1 exhibition; 1 international exhibition; 2 artist residences; and 4 artist commissions. Arts Catalyst staff are frequently invited to lead or participate in external events. In 2022-23, we were involved in 15 talks, tours and workshops nationally and internationally led by other arts and culture organisations.
